Seven years ago I tried lash extensions. Back then, they used chunks of lashes instead of individual lashes, resulting in a over-dramatic, freaky doll affect. Not a good look. Since that experience, i swore off lash extensions for good. That is, until, Noir Lash Lounge came along.
Choosing the Eyelash Size:
I went to the Yaletown location and chose the most natural look, called “Perpetual Pretty”. I told the lash technician that I wanted very subtle, soft and flirty lashes. To avoid looking too overdone, I told her that I wanted the shape to go “short – long – short.” Often you see that false lashes go from short from the corner of the eyes to long at the outer. I find this too dramatic and gives me an unflattering “cat eye” instead of making my eyes appear larger.
I chose a length that wasn’t too much longer than my own lashes and had the thickness of one coat of mascara. They have over 100 lash lengths and thicknesses to choose from, but the technician will listen to your desired results and pick the right lash sizes for you.
After getting seated in a comfy chaise. I closed my eyes while the technician put a gel pad right below my eye to protect my lower lashes and prevent glue from falling. The entire process took about 45 minutes.
Something to keep in mind: show up with no eye make up on, and take a shower and wash your hair before your appointment. This is because you cannot let water touch your eyelashes 24 hours after the treatment (or it can cause the glue/lashes to not set properly).
Eyelash Extensions Cost:
A full set application costs $75 and the lashes are supposed to last between 2-4 weeks. When the lashes start to fall out, you can go for a “fill” which costs $35.
I love the feeling of not having to worry about eye make up because the lashes alone brighten and open up the eyes so you don’t really need anything else. This morning, I just put a bit of the Geisha Ink Liquid Eyeliner on my top lid and was ready to go!

Those look AMAZING! I’ve seen a couple ladies get them done and I love how natural you can get them
thanks for sharing! got 2 questions for you… when the lashes fall off, do they make your real lashes fall off too? also, can you put mascara on them?
Hi Jia,
Your lashes naturally shed, so when you have the extensions, they will shed like usual. However, because you have an extension on it, it’s more obvious because you can see the lash so much more than your regular ones. I found that after I had the extensions taken off, my lashes feel a bit weaker. But I guess that is normal anytime you have something unnatural that is wrapped around your natural lash for two weeks.
You cannot put mascara on the extensions. But you can choose different thickness and lengths so there is no reason to apply mascara. That’s the point of the lashes! If you are someone who wears a lot of eyemakeup, expect that the lashes won’t last along simply because you are constantly cleaning your eyes to take off your makeup.
Nice blog. Keep it up. I have bookmarked this also. Very informative.:)
